Welcome to Mattishall

Mattishall is situated in the very heart of Norfolk, just 11 miles west of Norwich. It is the largest village in Breckland and one of the largest villages in Norfolk.

There are many facilities that serve this thriving and active community.  Among these include: a primary school, doctors’ surgery, several churches, many clubs and societies, sports facilities, a variety of local shops, a café, an enterprise and training centre with gym and restaurant, and a pub.

The Parish Council

The Parish Council is made up of 9 councillors who represent the village on various matters.  We are one of three tiers of local government: the others being Norfolk County Council and Breckland District Council.

We meet at 7 pm usually on the first Monday of the month at the Memorial Hall, South Green, Mattishall but due to the current situation with COVID-19 we are meeting virtually. Please see the agenda for joining details.  The public is very welcome to attend our meetings.

We're responsible for:

  • The upkeep of the Burgh Lane Cemetery, Memorial Garden and All Saints Churchyard

  • All Saints Church clock

  • The children’s play area

  • The allotments

  • The upkeep of the Village Green

  • Bus shelters and seating

  • Litter bins and dog bins

  • Providing general maintenance around the village

  • The Friday night youth club

JULY 2022

Looking for help please!

Can you list any community groups you attend, run, know within Mattishall and any contact details would be great.

We would like to help our community by knowing what groups are available. This will also help Community Enablers who will contact groups from time to time to ensure that they are aware of the funding and training opportunities that Breckland has to offer.

Parish Council meeting held on 5th July is CANCELLED due to recent covid infections and holidays. This is rescheduled for next Monday 11th July.

PLAY AREA REOPENED we are extremely pleased to confirm the play area has now reopened. We have been working closely with our insurers to ensure they were happy with the health and safety measures put in place until the wall can be repaired. Please can we ask parents, carers and responsible adults to supervise their children at all times and refrain from touching the fence in place to keep you all safe. Thank you. Please help spread the word.

JUNE 2022

PLAY AREA CLOSED due to vandalism. A wall in the play area has been damaged and is unsafe. We are working on a solution to re-open as soon as possible.

20mph Public Consultation The Parish Council wants your views on whether we should ask Norfolk County Council to extend the village 20 MPH zone to cover the whole village (Currently 30 MPH).
