Mattishall Parish Council

Voluntary Trustee sought for the Barlow Charity

Mattishall Parish Council is looking to appoint a new Trustee for the Barlow Charity. The role has the following responsibilities:-

·  To work with the other Trustees to manage the assets of the Charity – which are principally the Shared Equity Affordable Houses and Land at Old School Green in Mattishall.

·   To be responsible for the external decoration of the properties, and maintenance of the car park, shared pathways and shrubbery. This is funded indirectly by a modest rent collected on each house.

·  To ensure that the houses remain ‘affordable’ the planning consent requires them only to be bought by ‘designated persons’. The sale price is also tied to an external independent valuation. The trustees are involved whenever a house owner wishes to sell, working with Breckland Council to approve any new buyer.

·  The Charity is listed at the Charity Commission (no 1113881) and is registered at Companies House (05789811), with limited liability. A return is submitted annually to these organisations.

·  The current Trustees are Richard Norton, David Piper, and John Rockliff (who is stepping down). We are listed as Directors – with the roles of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. After a period of induction the new trustee would be expected to assume the role of secretary.

·  The Trustees meet at least twice a year, and report annually to the Parish Council

·  The minutes of the meetings and the Annual Accounts (which are examined by a qualified accountant) are published on the Parish Council website.

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee, please contact the Parish Clerk clerk@mattishallpc.info 07831 422700.
